Oriental Medicine & Acupuncture

Oriental Medicine is a comprehensive system of health care over thousands of years. It includes acupuncture and herbal medicine as well as massage, nutrition, meditation and exercise. Oriental Medicine is based on an energetic model rather than the biochemical model of Western medicine.

Acupuncture is successful in treating many problems because it is the only way to directly stimulate the nervous system to release the body’s natural healing factors: anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine, white blood cells, endorphins, hormones, enzymes and mood altering brain chemicals.

What is Craniosacral System?
Cranio refers to the cranium, the bones of the skull, face and mouth and sacral refers to the sacrum or tailbone. The Craniosacral system is comprised of the brain and spinal cord, the cerebrospinal fluid that bathes the brain and spinal cord, the membranes that enclose the brain, spinal cord, and cerebrospinal fluid and the bones of the spine and skull that house these membranes.

How is Craniosacral Therapy Performed?
The Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive light-touch manipulative technique. When abnormal motion is detected in the Craniosacral system, the point of restricted movement is located and released by gentle traction and elongation of the membrane.
